Personal Opinion on the movie: Nila and Krishna Should not have been separated. Any other climax which has both Krishna and Nila together would be good.
Thalaivaa (Leader) movie review:
This movie caption goes like this "Time to lead". It is not actually "time to lead" but it should be "Time to be careful" for both the actor Vijay and director Vijay. Because after doing films like Velayudham, Kavalan, Nanban and Thuppaki, i really dont know what made Vijay to choose this Thalaivaa script. even Director AL.Vijay has not given a good entertaining, appreciable movie after Madarasapattinam and DeivaThirumagal.
Story: Sathyaraj is the father of Vijay. He does all good things to the people of some area in Mumbai. His profession is like Kamal's profession in Nayagan. we all know that how much Kamal is loved by the people of some area where kamal lives in Mumbai in Nayagan movie In the same way, Sathyaraj's character also is the godfather in the movie.As he is don, any time he will be killed(Because the one takes knife in his hand will be killed by that knife!!!).So he doesnt want his son Vijay also to be in this profession in the future. he sends Vijay to Australia where Vijay lives till he ages to some 20's or 30's. For some reason, Vijay has to come to India. when he comes to India, he comes to know that his father is a don.His father will be killed by villain in front of him and villain wants to replace Sathyaraj as don and want to be a don of Mumbai.Villain kills Sathyaraj for one reason (the reason you can see when you watch the movie). When he kills Sathyaraj he joins with few other villains(who have their own reasons for killing Sathyaraj) and kills. what next?????Well i hope you all have guessed correctly.Yes it is revenge time for Vijay and does what Sathyaraj does to the people and becomes the god father. Uffffffffff....Story is over...
Acting Department: Vijay does his part nicely. Personally i liked him a lot in the first half but in the second half he didnt satisfy me that well. Altogether he does well in this movie. Once again he proved he is a good dancer.(but when he is compared to Telugu actors like Junior NTR, Vijay has to improve a lot when it come to dancing). Amala Paul is given an important role in this movie(See the movie to know which role she has taken). She also does her part well. chemistry, physics and maths all are there between Vijay and Amala Paul. Santhanam, here and there makes you laugh. Sathyaraj once again proved that he can do any role very well after Nanban. Villain does a little justification to his role. It is not his mistake but it is Director's mistake in not giving much scope for the Villain in the movie. Any Hero oriented movie, The movie will be interesting only when Villain is equally strong to Hero. But in this movie, villain character is not designed properly.
Music Department: All songs are good and listenable repeatedly. Background Music is not that effective except the theme music of the movie.
Technical Department: Even in the second half, movie drags, only the cinematography makes us to sit and watch movie without boring... Cinematography is excellent in both the halves of the movie. The color tone used by the cinematographer when Vijay comes out of normal dress and gets into White Shirt and Blue Jeans is excellent. I dont want to speak much on editing here as i dont know much about editing.
Direction department: As a director of the movie, A.L.Vijay has failed to give a mass hit movie for Actor Vijay. Story is not a fresh story. In the title card itself he has given credits to Maniratnam(directed Nayagan) because he has been impressed by Maniratnam. He has given credit to Maniratnam and it is really not good to write the story which looks like Nayagan movie story in many places.
